The long wooden bridge to Schloss Ort, shot head-on with the onion-domed tower at the end, is the frame the town is known for. The Rathausplatz puts a painted square and the ceramic carillon right on the water, and the Esplanade runs south to the Toscanapark with the Traunstein behind you the whole way. Traunkirchen's Johannesberg chapel closes the lake to the south.

The castle bridge faces west, so it takes the low afternoon sun and works well in flat overcast light too. Mornings are calmest on the water and best for reflections. May to September brings the paddle steamer, warm evenings and the flower beds on the Esplanade; October empties the promenade; and winter often puts snow on the Traunstein above a lake that rarely freezes.

The wooden bridge and the castle courtyard are normally open to walk through and cost nothing, and the outside of the building is what a shoot uses anyway. The castle is a working venue with weddings and events, so parts of it close at short notice, and it sets its own rules on tripods and larger productions.
